Oh, man, this is creepy as fuck, with the monkey toys and the clown dolls and the lonely beach and the empty house and the... Ahhhh!

Ha ha Harry Potter, where’s your magic now, eh?

No, that doesn’t help. Making fun of this doesn’t make the creepy go away.

Could it be? A truly scary movie? We can but hope. I saw this on stage in London years ago, and found it very effective, but it was very minimalist: just two actors on a small stage. Obviously this has been expanded for the film. I hope it stays true to its less-is-more roots.

And of course I’m looking forward to seeing Daniel Radcliffe in his first real grownup role.
