question of the day: What is your earliest geek memory?
My earliest memory of being a geek: I remember being in first grade, and playing superheroes on the school playground during our lunch break. It was just me and one other little boy (whose name I can’t even recall), and we would button our sweaters around our necks to make “capes.” I don’t remember what the game consisted of beyond that, and I don’t even know how I would have been aware of superheroes at this point. I didn’t read comic books, and this was before the glut of superheroes movies hit after Superman in 1978. (This would have been 1975.) Saturday morning cartoons, perhaps? But I don’t remember those from that early stage of my life, either. Somehow, though, I knew that wearing a cape made you a superhero. What about you? What is your earliest geek memory?
