ON THIS DAY: In 1915, the "unsinkable" Titanic sank, at 2:27am, several hours after striking an iceberg on its maiden voyage across the Atlantic. More that 1500 people were killed, including, most tragically, Leonardo DiCaprio... at least, that's the case in James Cameron's enormously successful 1997 flick TITANIC. The sinking was Leo's fault, anyway -- if we're to believe the film, it was his snogging with Kate Winslet that distracted the iceberg lookouts in the first place. |
