TODAY IS: The third day of National TV Turnoff Week, which runs through April 29th to encourage Americans to turn off the boob tube for a week and reconnect with family, friends, and community (see tvturnoff.org for more info). The depths of inanity that TV can reach -- earning its turnoff -- is depicted in 1999's EDTV, in which Matthew McConaughey plays an ordinary schmoe video-store clerk who agrees to have his life broadcast 24/7... only to see his reality show become a huge hit.
