ON THIS DAY: In 1921, television legend Gene Roddenberry was born in El Paso, Texas -- he died in 1991. Roddenberry created the STAR TREK TV series, of course, as well as the first of its several spin-off series. In 1979, he gave desperate fans something for which they'd lobbied for years: STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE. And the fans still worshipped him afterwards. |
