ON THIS DAY: In 1947, Tennessee William's play A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE opened at the Ethel Barrymore Theater in New York -- it starred Jessica Tandy, Marlon Brando, and Kim Hunter. Brando and Hunter reprised their roles and were joined by Vivian Leigh in Tandy's part in the multiple award-winning 1951 film adaptation, also called A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE. |
