ON THIS DAY: In 1927, the Grand Ole Opry made its first radio broadcast from Nashville, Tennessee. Appearing on the Opry was the holy grail for many an aspiring country musician, including Loretta Lynn: COAL MINER'S DAUGHTER, the 1980 Lynn biopic, depicts her first triumphant appearance at the Opry and how this launched her musical career. |
