ON THIS DAY: In 1503, Michel de Notradame was born in Provence, France. A physician and astrologer, he is known to us today as Nostradamus, whose book of prophecies is believed by many to have foretold the future, though, oddly, his "predictions" only appear prophetic in retrospect. Much camp enjoyment is to be found in the 1980 "documentary" THE MAN WHO SAW TOMORROW, narrated portentously by Orson Welles, which purports to explain how accurate Nostradamus actually was. |
