ON THIS DAY: In 1997, Scottish scientists announced that they had successfully cloned an adult mammal, a sheep whose identical offspring they named Dolly. The ramifications of cloning have long been considered in science fiction, most hair-raisingly in the 1993 film JURASSIC PARK, which brings dinosaurs back to life via genetic engineering (and astoundingly realistic CGI combined with beautiful model work). Please keep your arms and legs inside the vehicle during the dino-tour. |
