TODAY IS: Rape Survivor Day (see www.sover.net/~schwcof). Sometimes the most horrendous events, the ones we need to talk about the most, can be the hardest to deal with. 1988's THE ACCUSED, a brutal and frank film based on a true story about a shockingly public gang rape, may be the most honest depiction of the crime and its aftermath ever put on screen. Jodie Foster won an Oscar for her portrayal of the complicated victim, and though this is a difficult film to watch, it's one well worth seeing. [today's movie at IMDb]
