TODAY IS: The 10th day of National Book Month (see www.nationalbook.org) -- literary events commemorate the love of books at schools, libraries, and bookstores nationwide. Celebrate bibliomania with the lovely little 1986 film 84 CHARING CROSS ROAD. Anne Bancroft, a lonely New York City booklover, writes to a London bookshop in search of a rare book, beginning a 20-year letter-writing friendship with shop owner Anthony Hopkins. (Trivia note: Last time I checked, there was a sheet-music shop, and not a bookstore at all, at 84 Charing Cross Road in London.)
