TODAY IS: The 100th anniversary of the death of Britain's Queen Victoria, whose passing brought an end to the last great age of the British Empire. The 1997 film MRS. BROWN gently dramatizes the later years of Victoria's life, after the death of her beloved husband Albert, when a friendship between the Queen (played by Judi Dench) and an earthy Scots Highlander (Billy Connolly) prompted rumors of royal romance. |
