ON THIS DAY: In 1785, the first fatal aviation accident occurred as French aeronauts Jean Francois Pilatre de Rozier and P.A. de Romain were killed in the crash of their hot-air balloon as they attempted to cross the English Channel from France to England. David Niven and Cantinflas are luckier in their balloon journeys in 1956's AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS, in which they safely traverse the globe in the allotted time, encountering exotic adventure along the way. |
