ON THIS DAY: In 1890, comic actor Stan Laurel was born in England (he died in 1965 in California). One of the most beloved products of Laurel's 30-plus-year creative relationship with Oliver Hardy is the 1934 film MARCH OF THE WOODEN SOLIDERS (also called BABES IN TOYLAND), in which the duo play Santa's helpers who must save Christmas. |
