TODAY IS: The pagan festival of Midsummer, still celebrated today as the first day of the summer season (in the Northern Hemisphere) and the day with the longest hours of daylight each year. Pagan festivities -- including much romancing and dancing among the fairy folk -- festoon 1999's A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, based on Shakespeare's play and starring a delicious cast, including Michelle Pfeiffer, Rupert Everett, and Kevin Kline.
