TODAY IS: National Salesperson's Day, the 24 hours during which Strategic Selling asks us to acknowledge that salespeople are essential resources for customers. Remember that the next time you get an unwanted spritz of Eau de Fou in Macy's or the dude behind the counter in Crazy Sam's is totally sure the extended warranty on that toaster oven is a bargain. Red Skelton at least makes door-to-door sales wacky slapstick fun in 1948's THE FULLER BRUSH MAN, in which solving a murder is part of the hapless huckster's plan to woo the requisite pretty girl. Though giving up selling household cleaning products might have been a better first step.
