ON THIS DAY: In 1908, acclaimed film director Sir David Lean was born in London (he died in 1991). He won 28 Academy Awards for his 16 films, including a bunch for the beautiful 1962 epic biography LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, which stars Peter O'Toole as the English writer, adventurer, and military advisor in the Middle East during World War I. |
