ON THIS DAY: In 1881, P.T. Barnum and James A. Bailey merged their circuses to form "the greatest show on Earth." A more modern incarnation of the famous show under the big top was documented in 1952's THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH, a soapy, Cecil B. DeMille epic that features Charlton Heston, Jimmy Stewart, and one really incredible train wreck. |
