ON THIS DAY: In 1965, the northeast United States and much of eastern Canada was struck by a massive electrical blackout, affecting more than 30 million people across an area of 80,000 square miles. The 1996 film THE TRIGGER EFFECT takes place during a suspiciously massive blackout in Southern California, which is about the only thing that is comprehensible in this incoherent psychological suspense flick.
