TODAY IS: The Great American Smokeout, held annually on the third Thursday in November and sponsored by the American Cancer Society to celebrate smoke-free environments and to encourage smokers to quit. In the 1971 comedy COLD TURKEY, an entire town tries to give up the butt in order to win a contest. Today, of course, we'd just ask them to take their cigarette breaks outside. |
