ON THIS DAY: In 1898, C.S. Lewis was born in Belfast, Ireland (he died in 1963 in Oxford, England). A scholar, novelist, and Christian apologist, he fell in love late in life with American Joy Gresham, and their story is told in the 1993 three-hankie flick SHADOWLANDS, starring Anthony Hopkins and Debra Winger. |
