ON THIS DAY: In 1963, the television series THE FUGITIVE premiered on ABC -- four years later, TV ratings records were shattered when the final episode aired, in which Dr. Richard Kimble, wrongly accused of murdering his wife, confronted the one-armed man who actually did the deed. The series got the big-screen treatment in 1993's THE FUGITIVE, starring Harrison Ford as the on-the-run Kimble and Tommy Lee Jones as the federal marshal obsessed with capturing him.
