obsession: Doctor Who (two more David Tennants to go)
boyfriend: George Clooney in Up in the Air (because he’s George Clooney)
psyched: Sherlock Holmes (I’m gonna be really disappointed if this isn’t awesome)
girl crush: Emily Blunt in Young Victoria (it’s good to be the queen)
dreading: Did You Hear About the Morgans? (looks like My Blue Heaven, but sucky)
enemy: director Robert Zemeckis for A Christmas Carol (thanks for ruining Dickens, dude)
Hmm — Sherlock Holmes is on my list of things I plan to avoid. I like Downey, but the trailer makes this seems like they’ve tried to turn Sherlock Holmes into an acdtion/adventure flick, which very much is against the spirit of Sherlock Holmes. The first time I saw the trailer, in fact, I had to pull out some of my Jeremy Brett DVDs, to wipe the images out of my mind for a while.
But I will be curious as to what you think about it after you see it.
Well, John Hughes did his damnedest to ruin Miracle on 34th Street but fortunately, hardly anyone watches his version anymore so perhaps Zemeckis’s film will someday share the same fate.
Then again this is a society that found the will to release umpteen versions of Xanadu on DVD but has yet to release a similar DVD version of the classic Christmas flick Remember the Night. (The latter, of course, you must make time in your busy schedule to see some day, MaryAnn, if you haven’t seen it already. Seriously.)
But will it be as awesome as Young Sherlock Holmes and The Great Mouse Detective? That’s what I want to know.;-)
