female gazing at: John Billingsley

You know who’s adorable? John Billingsley, that’s who.

I always liked Dr. Phlox on Enterprise, because he was so confident and capable and had, like, five wives, and was always up for more:

I wish there were more good pictures of Billingsley online. But there aren’t…

I’m posting pictures like these every weekday, of a man who is attractive and desirable, because I like to look, dammit — and because the female gaze doesn’t have to be such serious business.

(If you have a suggestion for someone we should female-gaze at, feel free to email me with a name or a link to a particular photo.)

It’s almost enough to make you forget the genocide.

Do you watch Leverage at all? He had a great guest role on it a few weeks ago. Episode 11 of this season, “The Rashomon Job.” Should be up at TNT’s website.

Haven’t seen *Leverage.* I keep meaning to catch up with it, but it hasn’t happened yet…

Billingsly is one of those character actors who rises above whatever material he gets stuck playing a second bannana in…

I’ll again throw out a plug for The Man From Earth, which Billingsley was in (in a professorial role). Image from that:

Oo, I love Billingsley. He’s also in Stargate…Universe? SG1? I can’t keep them straight, but he plays, as usual, a funny second fiddle

There we go, a man I can reasonably aspire to look like.

Never would’ve thought of him for female gazing, but in truth I’m always glad to see him. Like Ethan Phillips as “Neelix”, my brain always says “Phlox” when he shows up onscreen. Even when he’s playing a bad guy, he seems like a good guy.

@I_Sell_Books: SG1 — he was in the episode “The Other Guys” with Patrick McKenna (who i also like a lot)… he was touching and funny. i saw him the Leverage episode — what a cool part — he basically played two different aspects of the same character. i almost didn’t recognize him in the more… uhm… lethal part.

  • So you like looking at a guy who slightly resembles Wallace Shawn in one picture and greatly resembles Jim Belushi in another?

Well, it’s your site. I suspect some individuals on my list of good-looking female celebrities would seem strange to you too–which is why it’s a good thing it’s my list and not yours. (And, of course, that same applies vice versa. It’s not like I’m generally attracted to people named John anyway.)

Ooo, do watch Leverage sometime (hang on after the pilot; it does get better); then maybe we can have a “men of Leverage” female gazing: Christian Kane, Aldis Hodge, Timothy Hutton, and (dare I request it?) Mark Sheppard.
