Doctor Who thing of the day: lovely abstract TARDIS painting

TARDIS painting by Paula Santirocco
Isn’t this exquisite? Artist Paula Santirocco sent it in, with the following explanation:

Soooo….I finished this painting today. I’m an abstract painter and this is what comes of serendipity. The canvas actually began as a receptacle for acrylic paint left on my palette knife. My husband looked over my shoulder and said, “Doesn’t that look like the Tardis while it is translucent, and the crack in the universe?” I added one or two stroked of the palette knife and a few details, so here is a very stylized, primitive, “The Girl Who Waited.”

I think it’s absolutely striking and beautiful, and wonderfully evocative of poor little Amelia Pond’s plight.

See more of Santirocco’s work — all of which is gorgeous — at Paula’s Gallery.
