Doctor Who thing: “The Bells of Saint John” prequel minisode

Short and sweet. Best Doctor Who in ages, maybe:

I did see that coming, though…

Thanks to PJK for the heads-up.

To be honest, I wasn’t surprised by the ending either. It was a bit predictable.

I’m not sure if it was actually meant to be unpredictable.

The Doctor should have caught on, then. :->

That fellow *does* look a bit dodgy, don’t he? ;) Ironic if the kid grew up to be the friend he’s looking for.

EEK! I just now clicked on one of the many links that show up on YouTube after a film is over and got the teaser trailer for The Last Cyberman, Series 7 Part 2. As I was saying to my Trek-lovin’ husband the other day, the Cyberman were the Borg many years before the Borg were the Borg, and the teaser trailer really brings that out.

So I guess Moffat really does have just the one narrative for female companions and potential companions, and all of them have to be forced to confirm to it. (The original version of Sally Sparrow, Reinette, Amy, River/Melody, and now Clara.) I find it distinctly creepy. Aren’t prepubescent girls already sexualised enough in mass media?

It’s getting boring with new Who especially 11’s ladies seeming to have the same backgrounds / intros. They should have just stuck with Victorian Clara for some variation but no, we have to have a mystery that has to go on for a series or two.

I’m kinda surprised that the good Doc isn’t spending more time hanging out on Bannerman Road. But then I guess Rani is a bit too old for him…

is there some sort of prequel available on itunes in America but not the UK yet? Lot of chat on twitter about it but I can’t find out what it is? This is a disgrace!
