Lone Survivor trailer: war-movie Oscar bait?

This one has been under the radar so far, but it’s getting an awards push from Universal. I can’t say that I see “awards contender” in this, beyond the general “war movies as Oscar bait” thing.

As always, I’d be happy to be wrong about that.

I like Mark Wahlberg probably more than he deserves, so I should at least find something to appreciate here.

Genericness of trailers strikes again — apart from the fact that some of the good guys are going to get killed, implicit in the title, this could be anything from “rah rah kill the bad guys” to “war is bad for soldiers and other living things”.

I too find Wahlberg surprisingly good, but I’m still surprised each time he is good.
