I just deleted a comment that suggested I commit suicide

The commenter disagreed with my opinion on a film and thought that was an appropriate way to express dissatisfaction with what I had written.

If you are abusive — and you know when you’re being abusive — I will delete your comment without warning.

I’m sick of this shit. Grow the hell up and learn how to have an adult conversation.

(I realize that, unfortunately, this will most likely be seen only by those who don’t need to hear it.)

Jesus Mary and Joseph, some people’s children. How many basement-dwelling, Cheetos-eating failures to launch *are* there in this world?

I was bored by Cabin in the Woods. Found Pacific Rim preposterous. Detested Rubber. Thought Rango was meh. But I still love what you do. Please keep going!

MaryAnn, please have a wonderful day. I hope you get nuzzled by a cute puppy as soon as possible.

There are many idiots out there. I’ve been online since 1988 and there are still people who attack total strangers (usually women) in very odd ways. Just delete/block (if possible)/move one. Anyone who’d attack another person for their opinion in that way is simply not worth reading.

Oh, it’s not just women. The abuse I received for daring to dislike “Bridesmaids” and “The Lego Movie” has to be seen to be believed. I’m gratified when I hear from someone who said they disagree but they thought it was a fairly written expression of my opinion. The idiots are the ones who think critics are supposedly to be validating their opinions rather than expressing their own.

You didn’t like The Lego Movie?

It’s not required that everyone love it.

I’m pretty sure there was a presidential address on the subject last night, but maybe you have updated information.

Don’t even feel bad, and don’t ever justify*. Just wield that banhammer with glee and aplomb!

OK, maybe simple justifications, like “Deleted because this dude’s an asshole. Bye, asshole dude!”, if you feel like taking the time.

With a site this popular, I’m surprised you don’t get garbage like that daily. The internet tends to embolden such people. Delete-a-mundo.

I get garbage daily. Usually not quite that bad, though.

Athough it doesn’t seem possible, there have always been as many jerks and bags of dicks around as there are today, but the ability to hide behind the Internet has injected their spew of hate into public arenas.
