female gazing at: Matthew McConaughey

In honor of his Oscar win for Best Actor in Dallas Buyers Club, let us gaze upon Matthew McConaughey.

I never could have predicted that I’d ever have any desire to gaze upon McConaughey. Not that he’s physically replusive or anything, but his onscreen persona certainly has been… until the last few years.

Recently — and delightfully — he’s been taking on challenging roles and demonstrating that he can be really, really good in creating genuine, complex characters. Now that’s sexy.

And a vaguely Indiana Jones-ish vibe never hurts. (I am in the minority in really liking Sahara, even though it was still in McConaughey’s less-than-appealing phase).

(If you have a suggestion for someone we should female-gaze at, feel free to email me with a name or a link to a particular photo. But check to see whom we’ve already gazed at.)

  • I have no interest in gazing, but his stock did go down a few points with me after I read his Oscar speech. I had no idea he was such a nutty Christian. Nice of him to give god the most credit for his win. *facepalm*

  • When he wasn’t calling himself his own hero.

    Can’t stand him.

The way I see it, he’s turned his natural tendency towards skeeviness to advantage by shifting from playing romantic or action heroes to skeevy and broken people.

i also like Sahara… and if a guy feels he has to thank god, well, let him… i’m not a fan myself (or m. mcc, or god) but it seemed heart-felt. yes, a little weird with the “i’m my own hero stuff” but those diet pills make you a little loopey.
