So when will the Oscars abandon “best actor” vs “best actress”?
Until there is gender parity onscreen, it would be wildly unfair to do so. Even in a relatively good year like 2015, the Best Actress nominees tend to be “These Are the Leads in the Five Films This Year That Were About Women.”
I can see your point; it just feels rather as this one would if it had “comics hall of fame for men” and “comics hall of fame for women”.
At least if “best actress” were removed there would be an obvious reason to complain about a nomination slate that was all male.

But this awards does NOT have that, and so people are complaining about the lack of women nominees. Just as you say they should!
If only 5 were nominated it’d make sense, but not one out of 30???
