Let’s get this guy in front of a crowd!

Miranda seems to be a superfan of *everything* — he’s an omnivorous geek. He’s so intimately familiar with a million things from seemingly non-overlapping magisteria that I’m amazed he has any headspace left to produce art. (Though, on second thought, his omnivorous feeding is probably what sustains it.)

Omnivorous feeding is practically a *requirement* for making great art.

It depends, I think. A master calligrapher or ballet dancer or composer or nature poet doesn’t *need* to be a superfan of a million scattershot pop cultural things in order to achieve the height of their craft. Some artists are inspired by omnivorousness, others by shutting out the world’s distractions and focusing on specific skills and concerns.

I did say “practically.”
