curated: there’s a petition to make Doctor Who a man again…

…and it is as hilariously pathetic as you are imagining:

Not as pathetic as this, imo:

So odd to see so many people claiming to be fans of Doctor Who while simultaneously exposing just how little they understand or appreciate its ethos. Heck, the most recent episode (transmitted just a handful of weeks ago!) contained a gorgeous scene in which the Doctor describes why he does the things he does and how it all boils down to one word – kindness. The trolls presumably talked through that bit. They’re “smaller on the inside”, and what could be less Doctor Who than that? If they abandon ship as they’re all promising, my favourite show will be better off for it.

That speech by the Doctor? You saw the troll’s face? That was the face that didn’t listen to a word the Doctor said. It’s official: Doctor Who trolls are the Master.

Mind you, they probably weren’t watching anyway (You know: ‘Moffat’), or were already apoplectic by that stage because of Missy’s ‘Doctor Who’ joke the previous episode.

I do like the way the poster insults ‘uneducated SJWs’ in the midst of a largely illiterate petition (the inability to spell the three-letter word ‘fan’ is particularly amusing: fact!).

I was born in the town in which this broflake lives, and his petition is further vindication of my decision 26 years ago to relocate 5890 miles from it.

Initially I was saddened by this reaction to a good bit of casting, but I’m realising that I should be applauding it. It’s the same insidious crap that sections of society have had to live with for years, but now spewed across the Internet in such a way that insulated, privileged white males such as myself cannot avoid seeing it for what it is.

I still cannot fathom how neols can use SJW as an insult with a straight face. But then presumably they wouldn’t regard GPH (greedy privileged haters) as an insult?

As hilariously pathetic as some of these responses are, I like to remind myself of this: If sexists and bigots are raging at pop culture, that’s a sign that pop culture is moving in the right direction.

And it’s not as if they’re lacking in old shows which reinforce the patriarchy that they can watch instead – just as everyone else has had to dig for the rare shows with interesting female / non-white / etc. characters for years. Yay Netflix.

  • Everything must cater and pander to manbabies, or else they are being oppressed.

Yeah the same thing happens in America with Christians, and any other group that has enjoyed years of privilege to the point they don’t realize it, so that when other groups start to gain equality, they throw tantrums and try to destroy democracy (along with progress).

    Haha, thank you for this!

Okay, I should have saw this coming but I didn’t. However, given the rash of celebrity deaths this year, I can’t help but find it nice for once to be surprised in a good way.
