curated: no movies are opening wide in the US this weekend

First time in a quarter of a century. Wow.

It looks as though the Weinsteins are burying Tulip Fever. It’s not getting a wide release, or press screenings, even though it’s based on a popular book and has some fairly prominent people in the cast. It’s the sort of movie I’d normally see, because Tom Stoppard wrote the screenplay, but I fear the worst.

Even though there are more films being made than ever before. Cinemas have driven me away, but I’m weird; I guess they’ve driven lots of other people away too.

I’m surprised it’s been that long. Labor Day weekend is notoriously bad for movies and has been for a long while. Talk about slow learners.
