ET Canada provides a little more context. It’s still not a great excuse. Sure, they didn’t do anything as blatant as gender-flip the reporter, but they still managed to avoid telling her compelling real story in favor of a fictional one — AND have the marquee name happen to be a male star, when they could easily have written it to be a female role. Not a good look.
That context doesn’t help. It’s still all about a story about a man who fails being considered more interesting than a story about a woman who succeeds.
As I’ve said many times before, there is nothing that men can do, or fail to do, that our pop culture will not celebrate.

Also: Damian Lewis is playing Rob Ford?!
