Writer-director Kirk Jones has pulled off a little miracle with this lovely, lovely movie: He’s telling us a story both universal enough in its reach to speak to anyone who’s ever been part of a family, and specific enough in its particulars to keep it grounded in the fantasy of fiction.
Over at the Alliance of Women Film Journalists. He was really cool and very interesting. And his new movie is fabulous, too. (Review next week.)
Woo-hoo! It’s the end of the world — again — as Roland Emmerich knows it, and I feel fine. Oh, there can be no question that this is crap, but will 2012 (opens in the U.S. and the U.K. on November 13) be glorious crap? I think it might be. I hope it might be. … more…
