London photo of the day: Vietnamese spring rolls

vietnamesespringrolls

Lunch today, from the Real Food Festival at Southbank, right next to the BFI, where London Film Festival press screenings have been happening all week.

Unfortunately, I ate the Japanese dumplings before I thought to take a photo of them.

The spring rolls were delish. As were the dumplings.

Okay, I recognize the shrimp one; what’s the other one? Those little red things look too translucent for azuki beans. In my part of the world, Hawaii, we call those delectables summer rolls, which are made with rice paper; spring rolls are fried and made with flour wrappers.

The other one had lamb. I don’t know what the red beans were, but they didn’t taste legume-y.
