Punching down is totally uncalled for, but I do think there is value in talking about movie worsts, if they focus on the excesses of the big-budget movie machine.
There are only a few films on it so far, but the year is young…

It looks amazing and the cast is fab, but while this could-happen-tomorrow story wants to appropriate the magic of science fiction, it fails to think imaginatively about longstanding human problems.

For me, this was School of Magical Animals, a desperately terrible Harry Potter family-fantasy knockoff out of Germany…
