FlickFilosopher.com is one of the longest-running continually updated sites of any type on the web: I founded the site in 1997, and the domain name was established in March 1998. You won’t find many domains that are older, and even fewer that are still active and still pursuing their original missions.
I am MaryAnn Johanson, and at FlickFilosopher.com, I explore a wide range of films — from huge Hollywood blockbusters to tiny indies and global cinema — from a perspective that is unabashedly progressive, feminist, and geeky. I am proud not to pretend that criticism can ever be “objective.”
In the online film realm, I helped found movie criticism on the web. The site predates Google and predates Rotten Tomatoes; I was one of the first critics featured in the earliest iteration of the Tomatometer. My criticism is popular and respected: I am one of only a few film-critic members of The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, the Webbys organization, celebrating excellence online and driving the creative, technical, and professional progress of the Internet. (Though note that I do not generally review short films except in rare situations, like the Oscar-nominated shorts collected for theatrical release.)

Tweets can be negotiated, but I am more likely to agree to them for posts I write myself.
