If I had been introduced to this film at a more impressionable age, I might today have pleasant adolescent memories of it that would color my grownup response to it today, and perhaps I could be kinder to a movie considered a comedy classic by some. But I wasn’t, I haven’t, and I can’t.
I was dreading *An American Carol* so much that the DVD just sat there on my desk, staring me in the face for weeks. Taunting me, almost — daring me to finally pop it into the player. Which, as there came a moment when I could no longer put it off, I did.
I’m overstating a little: I cannot honestly say that I *loved* ‘Zohan.’ But in a relative sense, given my history with Sandler, it is a huge admission to me to say that I kinda got a kick out of this silly movie.
