Even the miscasting of Jennifer Lawrence takes a backseat to the forced quirkiness, which David O. Russell cannot get his cast on the same page with.

If this isn’t a deliberate parody of furiously solemn, self-conscious artistic pretension, it’s an accidental one.
Or, What James Franco gets up to when he’s not sawing his own arm off, making performance art on General Hospital, pursuing a PhD in literature, and hosting the Oscars…
