A limp noodle of a cinematic noir that drains Patricia Clarkson of her usual eccentric charisma. And where it aims for intriguingly oblique pseudoscientific philosophizing, it ends up merely obtuse.

There’s some good stuff here, like the prickly relationships between women at odds with one another, but too much feels too contrived to fully satisfy.
There’s retro, and then there’s better left safely in the past.
