Shame on Silent Bob. I realize that times is tough and everyone’s gotta make a living, and that that’s probably why Kevin Smith agreed to direct a big-budget studio buddy action comedy. But shame on him anyway.

Hello, *sigh*! Enough of those “smart” romantic comedies that force down our throats the preposterous notions that women can be competent at work — sorta — without being idiots at everything else, or that men can ever be adults, or that humiliating old ladies and priests isn’t hilarious.
I’m not sure how a story like the one that unfolds in *Precious* can be anything other than the harrowing, painful, heartbreaking, explicit work that it is.
It’s too bad that writer-director Katherine Dieckmann couldn’t imbue her portrait of the titular state with as much easy, authentic panache as she does her setting.
Okay, I know it’s gonna be stupid, and I know ABC is gonna jerk us around by airing the first four episodes and then pulling the show till next year, but I can’t help it — I’m psyched. Spectacular in some ways, but that is so not New York City. Hmm, could it be, I … more…
