‘Doctor Who’ thing of the day: I *knew* the TARDIS used to be smaller...

Smaller on the outside, I mean. It’s been driving me crazy since the beginning of the new show, seeing how much the TARDIS towers over the Doctor. Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant aren’t short, but it was so noticeable how much bigger the TARDIS was right from the get-go that I had to grab this image back when I first wrote about “Father’s Day”:

I knew there was no way that, say, Peter Davison ever looked that small next to the TARDIS, but I didn’t really give it too much thought until I saw the site I featured yesterday, about how much the prop TARDIS has changed over the years. And then I dug up this photo, which looks like a publicity shot:

Put them side by side, with the Eccleston photo shrunk down so the two actors are about the same height (which they apparently actually are)...

...and it’s really clear how much bigger the prop is now.

(If you stumble across a cool Doctor Who thing, feel free to email me with a link.)
