The graphics are fun, the music is great, and there’s even lots of silly dialogue between the running away from Cybermen and Daleks…
I’d really like to give writer-director James L. Brooks the benefit of the doubt here, because I think — as I usually don’t about asinine romantic comedies — that he means well. He simply doesn’t seem to realize that pathologically messed up characters are neither cute nor charming.
Who knew the Hollywood Foreign Press Association had such a sense of humor? A nomination for Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy, for The Tourist? Unless… No… They can’t mean “Inadvertent Comedy,” can they?
I haven’t had anywhere near enough time to play with my Wii this year, which makes me very sad. But I may have to make time for this one…
Friday fun! Here’s a screen capture from a TV show on DVD. Guess the TV show — you don’t need to guess the episode, just the show. And if you assume it’s something I’ve said I’m watching or said I like, you’re not necessarily on the right track.
It doesn’t matter whether the movies attached to the titles ended up sucking. What matters is whether a title is so evocative, so imaginative, so funny, so weird, so whatever that just the title alone made you want to see the movie and hope that it would live up to the awesomeness implied by its name.
