Oh, I hope this is funny. Other people’s thwarted dreams and missed opportunities usually make me want to cry, so I hope this is funny instead.
I never thought Mark Hamill was really flying an X-wing. I never thought Ray Liotta was actually a gangster. But the collective power of the movie surrounding them created the illusion that they were. Some of that illusion is created by actors, some by special FX, some by other people talented in myriad ways. Surely what matters is the total illusion, not the breakdown of who created which part of it. Or am I wrong?
This SUCKER PUNCH from my man Zack Snyder is just like so totally fukkin awesome I dont even know where to start. Who the fuk wants to watch fukkin hobbits gettin all weepy and shit get to the part where we get to see orcs vomittin black blood when there heads get loped off and shit. And its all in the fukkin slomo shit where you can like really savor that shit and make it last. Thats what SUCKER PUNCH is just one long aaaaahhhh of awesomeness.
Plus: You will not be able to avoid having Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding soundtrack downloaded into your brain…

I’m predicting that my review of Sucker Punch (to be posted on Monday) — and probably some of those by other critics, or at least by female critics — will be met by some readers with slurs of “feminist” hurled back at me. And that word will be intended as a slur. How did we get here?
