‘Doctor Who’ thing of the day: the Doctor (and Amy and Rory and River) in NYC

Great. I leave America, and all of a sudden Doctor Who is huge there.

Via BBC America, some photos of the mobs who greeted Matt Smith and Karen Gillan at a DVD signing at a Barnes & Noble in Manhattan last week:

(What in the name of sanity is Arthur Darvill wearing?)

More at Facebook (you don’t have to be a Facebook member to see the pix).

And then last night, there was a preview screening of the first two episodes of Season 6 in the East Village, and I was not there. Fans apparently camped out to get a seat:

And showed off their Doctor Who crafts:

And brought lots of friends to keep them company:

And had fun:

Looks like it was fun once they got inside, too:

Again, via BBC America via Facebook. And more.

I will console myself by telling myself that perhaps I contributed in some small way to embiggening Doctor Who in America…

(If you stumble across a cool Doctor Who thing, feel free to email me with a link.)
