what’s your favorite dinosaur?

dinosaurs

You know you’ve thought about it, so:

What’s your favorite dinosaur?

Mine’s gotta be T. rex. Because she never let the handicap of her hilariously tiny arms stop her from being a bad-ass.

Your turn…

Ankylosaurus magniventris because a good defense is the best offense and Deinonychus antirrhopus because a good brain to body ratio is an even better offense.

Tylosaurus was my favorite in kindergarten because I imagined them battling Megalodons and giant squid in the bathtub… sadly I soon realized that they were not contemporaneous.

Well, you can’t fault a guy who looks like a horny toad.

Triceratops. The babies just look cute. Well, Cera from The Land Before Time did, when she hatched.

My mom loves to tell this story: We were on the freeway when I was a child, probably 2nd or 3rd grade. Suddenly, I do this dramatic double-take: “Mom! I think I just saw a dead dinosaur! I think it was a baby triceratops!!” It was most likely a ‘dead’ rug on the shoulder.

I’ve always been a Stegosaurus fan. I guess as a little boy I thought the plated back and spiked tail were just really, really cool. And I bet they made it a pain for your favorite dino to attack my favorite dino. ;-)

It’s interesting to read these days that a lot more dinosaurs than we expected were possibly feathered. I wonder if Stegosaurus was. It’s cool that even after having their images embedded in our brains since childhood, dinosaurs can still surprise us.

There’s a lot more dinosaurs than we expected, period. Since I really don’t have a working knowledge of more than just the ones I grew up with – so to speak – I’ll choose Stegosaurus as well. It’s kinda fancy and can be rendered really cute and dragon-like.

Don’t forget the Stegosaurus’ patented Thagomizer.

I could use a thagomizer. I work in public service.

Indeed, the Stegosaurus (and its thagomizer) is the best dino ever!

Stegosaurs rule! I’ve always been a Stegosaur fan as well. Personally I blame the Evelyn Sibley Lampman books…

Archaeopteryx. How can you not love a creature that bridges the gap between dinosaurs and parrots? It’s got a beak with TEETH!

I’m a Triceratops fan meself. The idea of harnessing one of those bad boys and working our way through traffic has been a fantasy since learning to drive across US 19…

probably not technically a dinosaur but i’ve always loved pterodactyls. the first time i ever saw a flying pelican, it gave me chills thinking it looked just like what i always pictured a pterodactyl to look like in flight.

Microraptor, because scientists have managed to get a pretty good idea of what they looked like (and they most likely had black iridescent feathers).

Well I’m a “right tool for the job” kind of guy so my fovorite depends on what I’m planning on doing that day.

But the question reminds me of this guy’s “What’s the best dinosaur?” routine. I think some of you will be pleased with his conclusion. And fans of a certain movie might be upset. :)

Amen. Even though dimetrodons aren’t technically dinosaurs.
Then again I always prefer to call them “finbacks”…
