London photo: Eros ready for Christmas

eroschristmas

Last week I posted a photo of the prep work going on around the statue of Eros in Piccadilly Circus for its Christmas decorations. Here’s it is all finished.

I don’t think it works as well as the snowglobe from previous years. It’s sort of hard to see the pile of presents from the street level, and there’s no way (apart from going into one of the nearby buildings and finding a window) to see it from above.

Looks more like a generic shop window display than anything else.

An erote on the roof. Sounds crazy, no? But here, in our little village
of Londonium, you might say every one of us is an erote on the roof
trying to shoot a pleasant, simple arrow without breaking his neck.
It isn’t easy. You may ask ‘Why do we stay up there if it’s so
dangerous?” Well, we stay because Londonium is our home. And how do we
keep our balance? That I can tell you in one word: tradition!
