the oh-no! DVD of the week: ‘Bratz: Girlz Really Rock’

Oh no!

The Bratz star in their first movie musical Bratz: Girls Really Rock featuring eight new dance along, sing-along songs! Lights! Camera! Action! Yasmin, Cloe, Jade and Sasha are off for the summer of their lives as they take the stage at Camp Starshine, an elite performing arts camp where acting, dancing and fashion get your name up in lights. The Bratz are all about having fun and even the most serious ballerina, Anna, finds that hanging out with the Bratz really rocks!

Wait — it gets worse:

But when the instructors start taking their lessons far too seriously and fellow performers are obsessed with practicing, summer camp feels more like boot camp. But things heat up when they learn that the winner of the camp showcase gets to star in a Hollywood movie. Each girl goes solo hoping to win the starlight for herself. Only when the evil Madame Demidov tries to sabotage the show do the Bratz rejoin to show that competition can never outshine real friends. No one is going to mess with their BFFs!

Scary!

This isn’t really related to this (except that it’s in the description), but can someone tell me what BFF stands for? Best something friends? In my mind when i read it i always put a swear word as the middle f, but I doubt i’m correct lol.

So…. hard work and practice is bad, but shopping and being famous are the best ever? Sheesh, talk about setting girls up for a lifetime of consumption, debt, and failed dreams. I can almost hear the repulsive ending now:

“I can’t believe we got so caught up with practicing for the competition at this elite performing arts camp that we forgot what really matters in life is hanging out with friends and shopping! What? We won the contest after all for being so cute and well-dressed? OMG! Girlz totally rule! Let’s go spend the prize money on a mall shopping spree!”

Hard work and practice are bad… I blame it on the preview button not working… heh. The error message I get when I click the preview button is:

Build error in template ‘Comment Preview Template’: Error in tag: Can’t find included template module ‘rightcol’

The concept artist for this thing should be tarred and feathered. Their faces are gargoylish. Who thought that removing their noses would be a good idea?

ah…how nauseating….I think i prefer my version

They’re the same as the dolls, which are pretty gargoylish as well (didn’t Mattel just win a court case against the creators of Bratz?)

I own gargoyle statues that are more pleasant to look at than those things. o.o

“(didn’t Mattel just win a court case against the creators of Bratz?)”

yes — they won the case that basically said that Mattel was the creator and owner of the whole “Bratz” doll thing. so, instead of just inflicting Barbification on the world, they were also going to inflict Bratzification…

you can read about the case here:
