the oh-no! DVD of the week: ‘Judge Judy: Second to None’

According to one reviewer on Amazon, the cases include:

* PATTERSON VS. JIMERSON – A 16-year-old girl (Patterson) sues a prom date that didn’t show up (Jimerson) for the cost of doing her hair and buying a prom outfit

* BROWN VS. PRITCHETT – A twentysomething man (Brown) sues a 13-year-old girl (Pritchett), for whom he routinely purchased alcohol, for filing a false police report

* WATTS VS. SORROWS – Purchaser of a new home (Watts) is shocked when she [allegedly] finds an unknown man having sex in aforementioned home [Sorrows] on day they were due to move in

* DAVENPORT VS. FILKINS – Possibly the disc’s highlights. Judy vents as eBay seller (Filkins) attempts to con buyers (including Davenport) into buying pictures of cellphones for hundreds of dollars

I… just… the mind boggles. Could anyone possibly be so stupid as to go to the police over a matter of illegal booze purchases for kids?

And anyway, who made her Judge Judy and executioner?

share and enjoy

Oh man, I was gonna ask who the hell would buy a DVD of Judge Judy cases, but holy shit, those sound awesome!

Alternatively, you might watch Tenth District Court, an altogether excellent French documentary from 2000 about a French female judge with real cases that actually mean something.

Sorry, that should be 2004. Apologies for my hasty enthusiasm for the real McCoy. Judge Michèle Bernard-Requin is a tougher cookie than Judge Judy, though.

My mom’s best friend went on Judge Judy (and won!), and I guess if her case ever ends up on DVD, I’ll probably be getting a copy as a Christmas present or something.
